Society Killed the Teenager

Everyone has to give in a piece of their mind, when it comes to how to raise a child.
So when one does not grow up according to everyone else's design, people tend to turn against them. I mean, if they aren't so absolutely perfect it is unacceptable.

Just such a complete fuck up.
Some people can move past it, and grow up working in gray offices. The strong might be able to be themselves despite when people attempt to put them down.
But then there is the rest of us.
10 year olds are stuffing their bras
12 year olds are cutting
14 year olds are smoking
16 year olds are in mental institution
18 year olds are kicked out on the street.
And most of us are depressed and suicidal. All of us insecure and imperfect. Feeling unfit to breath. We are lying. Our mouths are smiling but our hearts are dying, and we keep on trying and trying to be good enough and to be happy and 'normal' because that is what the world wants us to do. Society made us look for that rope, that bottle of pills, the razor. Society encouraged us to walk in front of that train, to fall off the ledge of that building or bridge.

Here we go again, trying to please society.
So, we do what we are told and only after we are gone do people suddenly care.
"Why would they do that!"
"They were so loved."
"Why didn't they just talk to us about it?"
"They always seemed so happy."
"I'll miss them so much."
"Society is awful."
They don't comprehend, they are society. We are society.
Don't they realize?
